There was very little packing achieved but lots of effort was made to secure a home for us to move to - which has a higher priority!
Nick and I went house-hunting last Saturday. He had a few hours sleep following night-shift before we attended an open house viewing.
We aren't looking for a dream house, just one we can make work for us. Sort-of like a long-term rental without the hassle of renting!
Saturday's house met our criteria and we made an offer while taking a break at a local cafe. A figure was calculated one number at a time, using a bit of numerology. We're good value, eh?!
There have been many admin tasks this week, doing everything necessary for our purchase to proceed. Success isn't a sure thing but we are remaining positive.
In between house-buying and normal household tasks, Erin and I attended a fashion upcycling workshop (which prompted more thought about mindful choices) - and most importantly, celebrated Nick's birthday!
The birthday-ing was done in two stages, with a trip to the conveyancer on the actual day to verify our identities and sign other paperwork.
We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant that night and were each given a fortune cookie. Erin's was "Keep moving forward". Nick got "Happiness will always follow you" - and mine was "You deserve a rest, watch a movie" which is what we did at the end of the day! There was a second round of celebration last night with a lovely cheese platter and splendid, home-baked birthday cake.
We actually had a fair bit to celebrate at the end of the week. A long-running saga finally resolved, which will streamline our finance application (along with other paperwork that was a little tricky to organise). Nick received his tax refund - and his first gig payment! Our deposit was returned (for the Week 3 terminated contract). It's all happening!
Week 5 tally. Boxes packed: 1. Total boxes packed: 37.
